Thanksgiving was just perfect. Everything went beautifully. Everyone but Ben and Melanie were there. It was a lovely day and I am thankful for so many blessings, especially the amazing boom in this family over the last year with daughters-in-law, new grandchildren, and our GREAT grandchild. She gets up on her knees now and is almost thinking about crawling. If she were a fish, she would be a most mighty swimmer with those super fast-kicking little legs. I've heard our new little Peter is also performing with similer antics. Next year at this time we will have another new baby just this same age and entertaining all of us by simply existing. All of them are just wonderful. I feel very blessed. I love everyone of you.
I had to run out to the grocery store on Thanksgiving morning. Apparantly a lot of people need one thing or another as well because there were not a lot, but enough folk to keep the store busy, running quickly about in what looked like semi-frantic modes, arms stretched out to the side, palms up, (prepared to grab things in haste, I think,) their necks stretched way up high, eyes wiiiide open and heads looking from side to side and back again in a rythm just fast enough to quickly scan shelves as they hurried along. I had entered the store in front of two young men who were 'booking it' down the aisles now and we had both exchanged "Excuse me,"s and "Oh no. You're alright,"s. I heard them talking loudly across the confusing rows of groceries, "Where's the Cranberry Juice?" "We don't need Cranberry Juice." "I don't want Cranberry Juice. You said you want Cranberry Juice." "Excuse me. Do you know where the Cranberry Juice is?" A kind lady offered to help them find the juice. I was behind shouting in my own mind, " Where the *bleep*s the Jello??" I couldn't help laughing. Most of the customers were men. Almost no one had a basket. And at the Spices shelves there were always at least four people frantically reading spice cans, their heads moving back and forth back and forth..... Finally I found the stupid jello, right where it should be. I had to buy four small boxes instead of two large ones for $1.00 each !!!! Too much to pay for jello I'm thinking. But at least they were there. I checked out and went on my way, smiling hello to a fellow ward member coming in the door. I knew what he was doing there, and yes he looked a little bit frantic.
I went home to make more jello salad. When I went to whip the cream for it, the other store from the other day had sold me a package of whipping cream that had gone sour! Of course they did!!!! So I decided to top off the already prepared portion with Cool Whip and call it a done deal. ANd after all, it was amazing, that I was ready to go on time and all was well.....finally!!
The kids were darling. The dogs were darling too. We took pictures of everything.
Papabear and I sat at the table after dinner. He was ready for pie and goading me into getting that on the table. I was occupied with sneezing and remarked that was rude and I should go into the bathroom to care for my nose. Naturally, Papabear didn't hear me clearly. Still talking about the pie he asked me, "Would they think you're rude if you just stood up and cut one?" We aren't usually so crude on purpose. At least I'm not. He is sometimes......lots of times..........
Hope you all enjoyed the day, that your food was great, your family was well, and the whole day was just as perfect. Happy Holidays.......

I thought Thanksgiving was perfect, everyone seemed happy and we were glad to see everyone. We'll have to plan something for Christmas so that Ben and Melanie can ejoy the chaos as well... they're missing out. Besides how fun would it be to have two little crawlers to watch attact pie! Thanks for all you hard work and for taking the time to share some of your traditions with us. I think it so important so spend these holidays with family, thanks for being our family... even if we are a bit overwhelming. I was so happy to see Jeff and Joanna too and pleasantly surprised to see Karen. All in all I'm quite pleased with how everything turned out and am anxious to get some of these pictures developed... they're precious
sorry about the spelling... oh boy I just re-read it, and proof reading and kid wrangling just do not go hand in hand....
makes me look umedjumukated
Heather...you can actually spell that word!!!! thank you for everything. You deserve the credit. Thank you for having us be a part of it.
it's imperative that you're all a part of it, its all about family and though I may be new I feel terribly comfortable with all of you. Now on to christmas, if I can get Steve 'in the spirit' I guess he doesnt 'do Christmas', another one of those holidays for me to do and him to enjoy... oh well at least I get the satisfacation of a job well attempted....
It all sounds fun. The older I get, the more I enjoy being a watcher of everything that goes on around me.

If you can copy and paste that (I'm sure someone smarter would know a better way to link it to you), it's Kirby's article about the stores on the holidays. It's pretty funny and sounds just like your experience!
