WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO NOW?

Is it possible to be happy during a depression?
Lately, since all this WallStreet disaster, it feels like we should all be starving and worried and unhappy. Many of us have lost some money.
Prices on necessities have gone up. It looks as if those who need a job are basically out of luck. What a bleak picture.
Well, let's not make stuff up. I'm wondering if it's not pretty much the same as it was or would have been anyway. There is definitely a worry about Papabear's job, but that was already there. We have to be smart about that and just hope for the best. He's very good at what he does, so as long as the papers hold out, he'll be okay. Those of us struggling with money and jobs were already in that boat. We haven't been struck suddenly with bad luck. Good Grief...gasoline is under $3.00! That's good news. So, our food now focuses on healthy, real food, not so much pleasure food, aka snack/junk food. That's better. We are watching our pennies and counting our dollars. That's better. It also seems like folks are paying a good deal more attention to the Presidential campaigns and really giving some thought to what's going on this time. That's Great! It isn't bleak. Maybe it isn't even so different yet. It's a heads-up, that's for sure. If we are lucky... and if we will heed the warnings, perhaps this is all we'll need. Life goes on. You make your adjustments, work a little harder, and things turn out alright.

Great post! Thanks for being positive!
I think you are right. I've felt since Jeff lost his job (even if it's getting harder to remember) that it's our chance to "learn" to cut back and figure out what really matters and what we're really wanting to do. Things we should have been doing, but get lost in the day to day survival. Well, now we're really into survival! But, I think it will be okay. You figure out what has to be done and move up.
