Papabear and I were home by ourselves this last Saturday. His first inclination is to go to an OFFICE MAX store and shop around for something fun to buy. So I went with him and found a couple of folders to buy. That's about all it takes to make us happy there, that and trying out the office chairs. After this, we brace ourselves, take a deep breath and get really giddy to go to BARNES & NOBLE, just to see if there isn't something we've been looking for or wanting for years. We always find something.
We've been listening to a T V book readers broadcast on Saturday mornings. I apologize for not having the channel numbers available. I will probably ask Papabear and add it here tomorrow. Authors are interviewed about their books and you can learn a lot as they discuss facts and the information it took to write their books. So we were primed for a trip to our favorite book store. I found two by Joseph Campbell, whom I've come to admire and respect for his honesty in discussing ideas about life, mythology, sociology and religions. James Joyce is someone I've felt I should at least know about, which I don't. So I picked up [ A Portrait of the Artist As A Young Man and Dubliners]. Papa got [ Plato's Republic ]. Oh don't we sound so intellectual and smart!!
Have you read any of those? What do you think?? Are you reading anything now....besides blog posts..haha.?? It's fun to hear what people think and isn't Autumn the perfect time of year that makes you long to curl up with a good book?? It's my opinion and it's true....... honest!! ^.^)

You and Papa Bear sound like the two of us! We cherish a quiet weekend where we get to do things we want to do, most of the time it revolves around other family! So glad I found my way to your blog...come visit me in the Ozark mountains at Granny Mountain!
I love going to Barnes and Noble! We don't get to go there so often anymore because of the wee ones. We did, however, go on Ben's birthday and bought State of Wonder by Ann Patchett and Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs. Also my cousin just became a published author. His book is a fantasy book for young readers called Janitors by Tyler Whitesides. I love to read, but now with doing Eddie's school I have really slowed down!
Wow---sounds like a good weekend. Isn't it nice to have some time just with hubby???? We love our kids ---but also love not living too close to them... ha
Hugs,
Betsy
Hi Rosalie,
I don't read as much as I used to, but right now I am reading 'Under the Lilacs' by Louisa May Alcott. My mom gave me her old book collection and while I have read most of them when I was younger I don't think I ever read this one. I read articles more than books these days...I seem to have a problem with staying with things for long.
I loved your posts on Star Valley and all the wonderful old photos. It is such a beautiful place, and can't wait to see it for myself.
hugs from here...
Yes, you do sound smart and intellectual. It sounds like Papa Bear has a very heavy book to read.
I love Barnes and Noble. The closest one is in Billings. I almost always pick up some Stampington art magazines and then completely forget the books I was going to look for when I got to B&N next time. Sounds like a great way to spend some time together. Yesterday for Leonard's birthday we planned to go to the museum but he changed his mind and we went to the dollar store instead. Now that was a cheap date!!! Take care. Blessings, Diane
Sounds like a wonderful, relaxing Saturday. We took the grandkids to the movie "Real Steel" last Saturday. It was a fun break.
