If you read the comment on the June 1st post, just beneath this, you will find a "Scotch Blessing"delivered to me by Ben about the care of computers. So I have deleted the very pretty picture blocks here with the sparkle and popping stars. And, not having much computer savvy, i will likely start pulling other things off as well. Khrys has promised to clean up my sites later on tonight. Apparently, these electronic toys are not to be played with by anyone. How disapointing.

Oops. Hard to say if that was necessary or not, Mother. They may not have been a problem, and honestly, if those things were the source of a virus, deleting them probably won't cure anything because viruses are smarter than that. You downloading something is just their way to get in the door; they are not necessarily wholly attached to whatever you downloaded once everything is on your computer. Does that make sense?
I feel bad about my earlier rant. In all sincerity, though, I think you guys would do well to buy some virus protection. (Go with someone reputable, like Norton Antivirus or McAffee.) In theory, having virus protection would allow you to browse and download all the glittery crap you want because it should catch any virus and prevent it from taking hold. Even if you don't get virus protection, there are other steps you can take to at least better your odds. I think you can download McAffee Site Adviser for free. It puts something in the bottom corner of your screen while you're online which turns red if you're on a site that's known to be dangerous. That would be a good (and totally free) start.
I think there are free ones out there.
It's so wonderful when you can do all the things on the computer but then when there are problems it almost grabs you by the throat. I wish they'd come up with virus free computers or mess-up free ones. That would make life so nice, wouldn't it. Hope you're well. Diane
